Field Trip. K-8 Students.
Why this field trip is important?
Lara Media Services and Moypa have been working closely with local community partners, including Portland Public Schools and other school districts, these last three years to create an immersive experience for students to learn about Latinx heritage and engage with Portland’s Latinx community. Together, we have prepared a variety of engaging activity stations for elementary students at the celebration.
How it works?
Elementary school students usually stay at the event, rotating through activity stations for 1-1.5 hours as schedules permit. The activity stations are led by either a community partner or LMS staff. An event volunteer accompanies each group of students to help guide the group through the event and stations.
Activity stations:
• Huehca Omeyocan – Danza Azteca display
• Ballet Folklorico history storytelling
• Mental health Loteria game
• Portland General Electric demo home display
• Multnomah County Library Storytelling + book selection
(giveaway)
• Face painting
• Event exploration – Visit booths, dancing at the main stage
Seeking Sponsorship:
To continue making this activity possible, we are seeking funding to support:
– Activity logistics.
– Materials needed for three educational stations.
– Cover the payment of the Aztec dance and folkloric ballet activities.
– Assistance with school transportation to ensure accessibility for all students, regardless of their location.
